    Genomic data visualization application

    Description

Biotique needed an intuitive and powerful visual tool to help their biotech customers compare their proprietary genomic data with that in the public sector. We designed and built a Flash-based application capable of visually representing over 100M genetic base pairs. In addition, scientists could easily compare public and private databases at a glance and use intuitive tools to zoom, scan, and even share data with their colleagues. The viewer was a huge hit with Biotique and their customers and helped distinguish their product from those of their competitors.

    Banner-based promotional game

    Description

As part of a larger campaign, Corning needed a simple game to attract customers and build brand awareness for their Corning GorillaGlass.

We created a penalty kick game where you try to shoot bananas past Victor, their gorilla mascot. We also included dynamic support for the many platforms on which the banners would appear, reducing development time, cost, and maintenance requirements.

  • Intel Corp.

Intel needed a means to educate potential customers worldwide about their processors while shopping online. With a changing product lineup and markets in sixteen languages (including Russian, Chinese, and Arabic), Intel determined that over 120 variants of the application would be deployed worldwide. As such, quality assurance, code and asset maintenance, and deployment were major concerns.

We proposed and built a single highly-dynamic application to address these concerns. By placing all application-related content in accompanying XML files, product localization was greatly simplified. Additionally, Intel could easily and instantly customize the look of the application for specific markets without requiring outside help.

The campaign was a huge success and we went on to build three additional versions of the application. Additionally, Doremus, the agency that provided the application design, was awarded first prize in the “Inventive Media” category at the 2009 Business Marketing Association’s ACE awards.

  • Ryan Homes (an NVR, Inc. Company)

Search features for the customer website

    Description

Ryan Homes needed a more effective way for potential customers to learn about their housing sites. We built an intuitive and dynamic search feature onto their existing site that also included mapping and filtering capabilities.

  • Suzuki Motor Corp.

    Official U.S. motorcycle website

    Description

Suzuki’s website was unable to adequately support the many tasks assigned to it. As a result, it was difficult to manage, confusing to navigate, and ineffective at inspiring visitors to contact their local dealership.

With SF agency Questus providing strategy and design direction, we rebuilt Suzuki’s website from the ground up. Additionally, we designed and developed a custom content management system (CMS). Our CMS allowed Suzuki employees to control every facet of the site, from background colors to motorcycle accessory assignment. The CMS also allowed for automated deployment such that new product releases could be coordinated with other products, promotions, and events.

Suzuki and their customers were delighted with the new site. In addition to the positive reviews of the new site features, Suzuki loved how the CMS gave them complete control of their site, accelerating change requests and minimizing long-term development costs.

  • Terminix Service, Inc.

    Web-based home pest test

    Description

Terminix wanted a simple tool for their website to help potential customers determine their relative risk of pest infestation. We created a form that factored in ten variables to make an assessment and then presented these findings to the customer.

The Home Pest Test has helped Terminix increase traffic to their site and customer goodwill by offering a free service to potential customers. Additionally, the tool alerted many customers to their high infestation risk, who otherwise may never have known.

  • UnitedHealthcare (a UnitedHealth Group Inc. Company)

    Lifeprint™ promotional website

    Description

UnitedHealthcare wanted a microsite to help launch their Lifeprint™ brand and services to physicians, healthcare providers, and senior patients. The site needed to accommodate the needs and usage styles of very different visitors and also encourage these visitors to register.

With Minneapolis agency Wingnut providing design direction, we built the site with multiple entry points for the different visitor types. In addition to informative text and video, we built an intuitive search feature with mapping and filtering capabilities.

UnitedHealthcare was very happy with how the site’s ease of use and effective message delivery helped increase brand awareness and registration rates.

With very limited time, we focused on visual media such as full-screen videos of game play, video interviews with game developers, and screenshots. The promotional CD went out to over 30,000 prospective customers and contributed towards Half-Life’s phenomenal release and subsequent success.

  • Verizon Communications Inc.

    Broadband Beat Web Portal

    Description

Verizon wanted to strengthen its brand and draw in new customers by offering social features and streaming content related to their interests. However, with a legacy system and content coming in from multiple sources, there were many technical hurdles to surmount.

We created an entirely new system architecture to support both the content feed and social features as well as custom JavaScript libraries for handling visual effects and special events.

With a stable and comprehensive architecture precisely integrated into their existing system, Verizon has been able to reliably deliver the relevant content and social features their target market wants.
